BIOGRAPHY

Jazz flutist and composer Leonidas Sarantopoulos was born in Athens Greece in 1986. He started taking flute lessons at the age of 10 under Professor Raymond Maloli at the National Conservatory of Greece. He graduated from Pallini’s Music Middle and High School and the Music Department of the Ionian University in 2010 studying Jazz Flute with Professors Dimo Dimitriadi and Ria Georgiadou. Since then he lives and works in Athens, Greece participating actively in the jazz scene of Athens having performed in numerous music festivals and music scenes. He has collaborated with many renowned Greek musicians, such as Vasilis Rakopoulos, George Kontrafouris, Nikos Sidirokastrtis, Stavros Lantsias, Antonis Andreou, Kostas Konstantinou, Andreas Poluzogopoulos etc. In addition, he has recorded two personal albums “Black Mamba” (2013) and “Paflax” (2017) and he has collaborated as a sideman, among others with the Arrabna project Grigoris Ntanis sextet, Thanos Hatzianagnostou quartet.
